Junior Tennis - USTA Southern California

My long-term goal is to become a professional tennis player. I would love to play against Coco Gauff and all the other professional players who have inspired me to be my best.

JUNIOR TENNIS

USTA SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA

WELCOME TO JUNIOR TENNIS IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA.

Some of the greatest tennis players of all-time have their roots firmly in Southern California. From the emergence of Michael Chang to the brilliance of Lindsay Davenport, from the first childhood volleys between Venus and Serena Williams to the sibling symmetry of the Bryan Brothers, these legends of the sport began as talented youngsters who started their celebrated journeys in Southern California.

Today, our extraordinary junior players are among the best in the nation and across the globe. USTA Southern California junior programs are platforms for athletic achievement, physical development, and personal growth. Our junior tournaments set the stage for players to compete and excel among their peers and build the skills and character that can carry them into college and beyond.

NET GENERATION

Tennis development begins with a program called Red/Orange/Green (R/O/G), which uses special equipment that allows young players to be successful on the court. Upon completion of R/O/G, junior players can participate in a pathway of Southern California team competitions and junior tournaments, which can lead to regional, national, and international competitions.

TOURNAMENTS

USTA junior tournaments in Southern California provide a competitive showcase for every junior regardless of age or skill level. These tournaments feature singles, doubles, and mixed doubles play. For the serious player, junior tournaments can lead to being selected for regional or national competition as a representative of #TeamSoCal!

JUNIOR TEAM TENNIS

Tennis is one of the most exciting team sports for youngsters. USTA Junior Team Tennis combines the fun and camaraderie of youth sports with singles and doubles tennis. Reach the Section Championships, or advance even further to enroll in Competition Training Centers and strive for the CTC Cup!

PLAYER DEVELOPMENT

USTA Southern California Player Development provides opportunities for high-level junior players to train under the supervision of some of SoCal’s most established professionals. Our goal is to work closely with the region’s most successful coaches and players to offer support and guidance, fostering a team atmosphere and creating avenues for success.

RANKINGS & STANDINGS

Player rankings and standings indicate player growth and competitive achievement, and are also used to qualify for local and national tournaments, including Junior Sectionals and the USTA Southern California Final 8 Junior Masters Championships.

The ranking structure for junior tennis is based on the American Development Model, which provides a standardized and uniform system for competition across all 17 USTA Sections.

SPORTSMANSHIP

Southern California prides itself on acknowledging players who display outstanding sportsmanship as they compete in our section and across the United States as representatives of #TeamSoCal.

Good sportsmanship is as simple as following the rules and showing respect for the game and the opponent. We play hard and we play fair, each and every time we step on the court. #PlayHardPlayFair
