USTA SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA
TENNIS IS A GAME FOR EVERYONE.
USTA Southern California is dedicated to providing tennis opportunities to communities and schools throughout Southern California, to foster growth in the sport and engage players of all ages and backgrounds. Thousands of school children have been introduced to the game thanks to USTA SoCal’s Net Generation Schools program, and the amazing work of our community providers and partners.
COMMUNITY PROVIDERS
USTA Southern California is proud to support a variety of organizations that deliver tennis programming to youngsters throughout the Section. Among them, National Junior Tennis & Learning (NJTL) chapters provide tennis development, wellness, and education enrichment to under-resourced youth. Community Tennis Associations (CTA) are volunteer-based organizations that support tennis programming for various audiences.

USTA IN SCHOOLS
Since 2019, nearly 700 Southern California Physical Education instructors have received tennis training, curriculum and equipment through the USTA’s Net Generation Schools program. The program focuses on providing resources to teachers and other school staff who can then introduce tennis to their students in a supportive and empowering environment. As a result, thousands of SoCal students at 300 area schools are now exposed to tennis as part of their in-school experience.
COACHING PIPELINE PROGRAM
The Coaching Pipeline Program seeks to identify, develop, and grow a pipeline of coaches from under-represented communities to establish a more diverse coaching pool in tennis. Our program will provide a pathway for people to discover their passion for coaching, receive professional training, and increase their potential for job opportunities teaching tennis in Southern California.
This program will provide training (through the USTA Level 1 workshop), resources, and the tools needed to complete your Level 1 Certification, helping to develop your skills to be successful in your future coaching career. We will subsidize the training on an as-needed basis and cover first year dues for all interested in joining the USPTA.

We are looking for individuals from under-represented communities, including bilingual and female coaches who want to become certified coaches.
QUALIFICATIONS:
– High school diploma or GED.
– Passionate about learning and giving back.
– Knowledge of the sport a plus.
– No previous coaching experience needed.
– Non-certified.
BENEFITS:
– Free training with 14 on-court hours, 4-6 online hours, and 2 hours of Positive Coaching Alliance Training.
– Pathway to certification.
– Mentorship.
– First year USPTA dues covered.
EXPECTATIONS:
– Complete all hours of training.
– Complete Safe Play process which includes background check and safe sport training.
– Provide six hours of service. Hands-on instruction (preferably through a program/event recommended by the USTA Southern California section). Must be completed before payment.
