In SoCal, Tennis Is a Team Sport!

USTA Adult Leagues are the largest tennis program in the United States and attract hundreds of thousands of participants nationwide. Southern California represents one of the most active and robust sections for Adult League play. From seasonal doubles to our energetic 18-39 League, USTA Adult Leagues in SoCal are fun, competitive, and can expand your social network throughout the year.

In Southern California, Adult Leagues are broken down into 13 geographic areas and organized by age and level. Many leagues also offer a chance to advance from local play to Sectional and National Championship events as a representative of #TeamSoCal.

League Offerings

The USTA Adult League program offers a variety of play opportunities throughout the section. League play in Southern California requires a valid USTA membership account and an NTRP rating.

The following leagues advance to Sectional and National Championships where you can represent #TeamSoCal across the nation!

Adult 18 & Over (Singles & Doubles)
Mixed 18 & Over (Doubles)
Adult 40 & Over (Singles & Doubles)
Mixed 40 & Over (Doubles)
Adult 55 & Over (Doubles)
Adult 65 & Over (Doubles)
Tri-Level 18 & Over (Doubles: Advances to National Invitational)
SoCal Doubles 18 & Over (Advances to Sectional Championship*)

Note: The SoCal Doubles format for the 5.0+ level is different–one line of singles/two lines of doubles at Sectionals. 5.0+ Level advances to an Open Invitational in Las Vegas.

Area League Coordinators may run additional local leagues throughout the year (18-39, Mixed 55 & Over, Singles Tri-Level, and more). Adult League seasons may also vary throughout the section.

How to Register

To sign up for a USTA Adult League in Southern California, you must have the following before registering for a team:

#1 – USTA Account + Membership – Visit TennisLink to create an account if you don’t already have one. Click on Join USTA to sign up for a membership or to renew an expired one.

#2 – NTRP Rating – If you do not have a rating, you will go through the self-rating process to determine your estimated level of play.

#3 – Team Number – You will also need a team number issued by a captain or Area League Coordinator. If you have been given a team number, log in and register on TennisLink by clicking Register with a Team #.

If you are looking to join a USTA Adult League team in SoCal, follow these steps to find the options available in your area:

Step #1 – Visit the League Areas page for information on which leagues are offered in the area(s) of your choice.

Step #2 – You may sign up for an Adult League by using one of the following three options:

– Go to USTA TennisLink and select “Find and Sign Up for a League.” Select a league that interests you, or sign up for open teams that are currently accepting new players. Fees are displayed when applicable.

– Reach out to your local Area League Coordinator. Their contact information is located on the League Areas page. 

– If you’re interested in playing in either the Los Angeles, San Diego or Santa Barbara area, fill out the Free Agent Player Interest Form located on League Areas page.

League Championships 

To be the best, you’ve got to beat the best! Each year, teams that win their local leagues advance to the USTA Southern California Sectional Championships to compete against other local league winners from around the section.

Sectional Championship winners in each division go on to represent #TeamSoCal at the USTA Adult League National Championships!
