The USTA Southern California junior staff selects one tournament director each month who goes above and beyond to run a successful and enjoyable tournament for our junior players. They demonstrate excellent communication, great customer service, and provide a positive experience for everyone. We would like to congratulate La Mirada’s David Goodman, the August 2023 recipient, on this recognition.

David was introduced to tennis at the young age of 4. His father started his older brothers in the game a few years prior, so naturally he tagged along. He began playing USTA events in the 10 and under category and absolutely loved it. He received his first opportunity to tournaments at Azusa Pacific University working for Mark Bohren about 10 years ago.

Today, David is the head coach at Biola University, where he works with the men’s and women’s tennis teams. He started running his own USTA events a few years ago.

When asked about his experience, David said: “The USTA Southern California team has been awesome to work with and provided me with an opportunity to run tournaments at our wonderful facility in the summer months.”
