Eric Barnard, a native of Glendora, had the privilege of spending countless hours on the tennis courts alongside his father, Jeff, and his brother, Josh. These experiences fueled Eric’s passion for the sport, igniting his desire to embark on a remarkable tennis journey.
His official tennis career began when he enthusiastically participated in USTA junior tournaments. Through dedication and unwavering commitment, Eric swiftly climbed the ranks, achieving great success. This led him to represent his high school as a valued member of the varsity team, showcasing his exceptional skills and contributing to the team’s triumphs.
Eric’s outstanding performances and unwavering dedication opened doors to pursue his tennis dreams at the collegiate level. He joined the Intercollegiate Tennis program, where he continued to hone his abilities and compete at a higher level of the sport. Eric’s relentless pursuit of excellence and innate leadership qualities earned him the esteemed position of a nationally recognized Division II Tennis Coach at Azusa Pacific University (APU).
During his tenure as the Assistant Coach for both the Men’s and Women’s programs at Azusa Pacific University, Eric’s influence and expertise extended beyond coaching. His invaluable contributions led to him being entrusted with the prestigious title and responsibility of Tournament Director for USTA Tournaments hosted at APU. This remarkable opportunity allowed Eric to witness the arrival of Southern California’s most exceptional players to the hallowed courts, engaging in the craft of competitive tennis at its finest.
Eric, deeply humbled and honored, was recently nominated USTA Southern California Tournament Director of the Month for May 2023. This recognition serves as a testament to his unwavering dedication and the high caliber of tournaments he organizes. Encouraged by this achievement, Eric remains committed to providing tournaments that are not only well-timed but also thoughtfully planned, ensuring a memorable and enjoyable experience for both players and parents alike.
