Tournament officials have announced the Girls’ 18s National Champion for the upcoming USTA Billie Jean King Girls’ 16s and 18s National Championships will receive a wild card into the singles qualifying draw of the $780,637 Cymbiotika San Diego Open WTA 500 women’s professional tennis tournament. 

The USTA Billie Jean King Girls’ 16s and 18s National Championships is scheduled for Saturday, August 5 through Sunday, August 13, 2023 at Barnes Tennis Center, 4490 W. Point Loma Blvd., San Diego, CA 92107.

In addition to the Cymbiotika San Diego Open singles qualifying wild card, the Girls’ 18s National Champion will receive a wild card into the US Open Main Draw and US Open Junior Main Draw. 

“I would like to thank the Cymbiotika San Diego Open for the qualifying wild card. It is a great opportunity for our 18s National Champion to return to San Diego this September and compete for a spot in the main draw of the WTA 500 event,” said Tournament Director Lornie Kuhle.

“We are very happy to extend a wild card to the Girls’ 18s National Champion for our singles qualifying competition,” said Cymbiotika San Diego Open Tournament Director Ryan Redondo. “With these two high-level tennis tournaments coming up in back-to-back months at Barnes Tennis Center, it’s going to be a great showcase for the sport of tennis.”     

The Girls’ 16s event will begin Saturday, August 5 and conclude with the singles and doubles finals on Saturday, August 12. The Girls’ 18s tournament will get underway on Sunday, August 6 and conclude with the singles and doubles championships on Sunday, August 13. 

Both divisions feature 256-player singles draws with the top 64 players receiving a first-round bye (192 singles players in each division). There will also be 128-team doubles draws with the top 32 teams getting first-round byes (96 doubles teams in each division). 

The Opening Ceremony for the USTA Billie Jean King Girls’ 16s and 18s National Championships will take place at Barnes Tennis Center on Saturday, August 5 at 4:30 p.m. (PDT).  Admission is free each day of the tournament and there is no charge for parking at the Barnes Tennis Center. The Cymbiotika San Diego Open will be played Saturday, September 9 through Saturday, September 16 at Barnes Tennis Center. The WTA 500 event, which offers $780,637 in prize money, will feature the top women tennis professionals in the world. Tickets go on sale later this month.
