Welcome back to the new year of the USTA Southern California Youth Leadership Council! We are so happy to introduce our up–and–coming blog, spearheaded by this year’s marketing committee.
As the USTA SoCal Youth Leadership Council, we aim to connect our community through tennis, as well as provide everyone in the Southern California region with equal access and engaging tennis opportunities. Our council of teens works hard, being the liaisons between the youth and the adult leadership of USTA Southern California.
Our council is divided into three distinct committees: Mentorship & Team Events, Community Service, and Marketing.
Our Mentorship & Team Events Committee aims to put on fun events where older, more experienced teens/adults work with more novice tennis players. Through these events, we hope to foster a sense of community as well as encourage newer players to get active on the courts with support.
The Community Service Committee aims to not only create community-bonding opportunities, but also to provide opportunities in the tennis community for underprivileged youth and communities. By reaching out to communities that don’t have as much access to activities surrounding tennis, our council can work to include all in this sport that we know and love.
Finally, the Marketing Committee works on our Instagram (@ustasocal_ylc), and this blog! We aim to connect virtually to the community so that everyone can stay up to date and connected on the happenings of our council.
This blog will produce entries bi-monthly, and you can expect content ranging from on-court habits, interviews with coaches and players, and tennis tips. We aim to foster engagement and fun through this blog, as well as providing some educational functionality to all readers.
Thanks for sticking around and we will see you all next time!
