USTA Junior Team Tennis, or JTT, brings together boys and girls, ages 5-18, to play singles, doubles and mixed doubles against other coed teams.

Beyond being fun and a great form of exercise, USTA Junior Team Tennis is a competitive, level-based environment that promotes individual growth, social development and life skills.

USTA Junior Team Tennis is often compared to Little League Baseball, as the program offers children the opportunity to develop their individual and team skills in a fun, yet competitive atmosphere. Winning teams progress from Local to District to Section Championships.

10U players earn play tracker points while older divisions compete to improve their WTN Rating.

The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA), the governing body and coaches association for college tennis, has announced that it has appointed the International Tennis Federation (ITF) World Tennis Number as the exclusive official rating of the ITA and college tennis.

Team tennis was a blast. Our kids played it when they were young and it’s a nice introduction to competitive tennis because of the short format and friendly team environment. We’ve met many friends through it and would highly recommend it.

– Khoung Tien, father of back-to-back National Champion Learner Tien

My daughters enjoyed playing Junior Team Tennis and it helped compliment their junior tournament matches. Plus, JTT uses WTN rating points, which I use to help gauge which players I recruit.

– Stella Sampras, UCLA Head Women’s Tennis Coach

USTA Junior Team Tennis teams offer options for players ages 5-18. Players who start on a JTT team are expected to be able to serve, maintain a rally and know how to keep score.

Nearly 100,000 kids nationwide play Junior Team Tennis annually, thanks to the parents who donate their time and talents. In fact, parents can get involved today, whether they’re pros or if they’ve never picked up a racquet. They can even start a team if there isn’t one nearby.

WORLD TENNIS NUMBER

Starting in 2023, USTA Junior Team Tennis divisions will be organized by the ITF World Tennis Number to maintain level-based play.

The World Tennis Number provides a global rating standard for tennis players using a 40-1 scale, with 40 being a beginner player and 1 being an elite professional. The scale is for all players, regardless of age, gender, or ability. Players will have separate ITF World Tennis Numbers for singles and doubles.
