Become a Tennis Coach!
Want to coach tennis or level up your skills? Whether you’re starting out or already coaching, we’ve got the tools to help. Learn coaching fundamentals, explore new strategies, and grow your career. Let’s take your coaching journey further!
The USTA Coaching Fundamentals Workshop is a two-day, on-court, face-to-face workshop for non-certified coaches focusing on coaching and teaching tennis to beginners through low-intermediate players of all ages. National Coach Developers approved by the USTA facilitate the training.
The workshop focuses more on the ‘how to’ instead of the ‘what to’ coach. Coaches will learn techniques and best practices for how to teach and engage players. Coaches will be able to learn from the trainer demos as well as practice their own on-court demos by ‘coaching’ their fellow workshop participants.
USTA Coaching Fundamentals Workshops are open to anyone 18+ (And minors 16+ with parent/legal guardian signed waiver). The workshops are beneficial for all high school coaches, grassroots/recreational coaches, and those who want to pursue professional certification.
The USTA recommends registered coaches take an online pre-course before attending the 2-day on-court training. You will gain access to the online course after completing full registration.
Upon successful completion of both days (first day = 8 hours, second day = 4 hours), workshop participants will receive a Record of Completion from USTA. The Coaching Fundamentals Workshop is recognized by certifying organizations, such as PTR and RSPA, and is the first step toward earning a Level 1 Coach Certification. For those not looking to pursue professional certification at this time, completing the online courses in the Coach Learning Center is the next recommended step.
In order to participate in a Level 2 Workshop, participants must be certified.
