Defaults adversely affect Sectionals by taking play opportunities away from participants and impacting the standings, which diminishes the overall Sectionals experience from the teams that invested their time, efforts and resources.

To insure and maintain a positive experience, one captain from each team is required to authorize a $100 hold before April 15th, via Match Tennis Team. The hold will be released to the captain’s credit card on April 27th if the team does not default any lines at Sectionals. If the team does default a line, the $100 hold will be donated to the USTA Southern California Natural Disaster Relief Fund.

Captains, please be advised that the deposit hold must be authorized by April 15th. This is a firm deadline! Failing to submit a timely authorization may cause your team to lose your spot at Sectionals.

Coman Tiebreak procedures apply to all tiebreak sets including the Match Tiebreaker. First team serves one time, followed by two serves for each team thereafter. At USTA Southern California, we are rethinking how tennis materials are used and reused. Through initiatives like our Cans to Medallions, Banners to Bags, and tennis ball recycling, we’re giving everyday tennis materials a second life while reducing waste across our events.

Stay tuned as we continue to introduce new initiatives, such as tennis ball swap days, equipment donation programs, and more!
