The NTRP National Championships for 2024 features singles and doubles events for three age divisions: 18+, 40+ and 55+ and a mixed doubles event for the 18+ division. The USTA Nationals are Level 1 adult tournaments that host competition across multiple NTRP levels and age divisions. To qualify for the NTRP National Championships, a player must first be “endorsed” by the Section and meet the NTRP eligibility requirements set by the USTA.
Those interested in advancing to next year’s Nationals should take a moment to review the latest NTRP Nationals qualification guidelines and Southern California’s selection process.

In the beginning of last month, TeamSoCal clinched multiple trophies at the NTRP Singles Championships. It was inevitable that they would make a striking impression in the doubles tournament too.
It was double the fun and competition as NTRP Doubles National Championship wrapped up on April 19-21, and SoCal was once again well-represented at every level and age-group. 23 pairs and 48 total competitors graced the stages of the National Championships. The Men’s and Women’s Doubles 18+ (2.5, 3.0, 3.5, 4.0, 4.5, 5.0) division was held at Barnes Tennis Center in San Diego, the 40+ Doubles (3.0, 3.5, 4.0, 4.5) division was held at Pelham Racquet Club in Pelham, Alabama, and the 55+ (3.0, 3.5, 4.0, 4.5) division was held at Cooper Creek Tennis Center in Columbus, Georgia. Every division boasted its unique character, featuring hard courts designated for the 18+ and 40+ groups, while the 55+ category enjoyed playing on clay courts.
Amidst stacked competition at every division, the bright personalities and bold play of our players shone through with SoCal boasting 6 teams with top-4 finishes in the competition. This included the electric pair of Philip Mykel Flores and Jack Gilligan, a pair of San-Diegans competing at home in the 18+ Championships at the Barnes Tennis Center. Flores was fresh off of his 3rd place finish in the 3.5 Singles Championships just two weeks earlier. After cruising through two matches on Friday, he and Gilligan narrowly edged out a pair from Southern 7-5 in a third set breaker to advance to the Golden Bracket of the event. Two more victories over Intermountain and Texas saw them crowned 2024 National Champions, joining Lindsey Barron as players representing Southern California to take home the title this year.
Another fellow San Diegan Anna Raiff paired with USTA Eastern’s Michelle Dvorkin, of Pelham, N.Y., in 18 & Over 3.5 Women’s doubles to ease past the all-Eastern duo Annie Berger and Jennifer Keefe in three sets, 4-1, 3-4, 4-2, and take home the crown.
With the Mixed Doubles Competition wrapping up in Surprise Arizona, that sets the sun on this year’s NTRP Nationals. But remember, there’s always 2025! The fight continues for our 18+ competitors on the SoCal NTRP Tour. For our 40+ and 55+ competitors looking to compete at Nationals, don’t miss a chance to join our SoCal Tour Invitational this July. These will be the only qualifier events we host for 2025 Nationals. The other SoCal representatives will be selected according to the National Standings List at the time of next year’s selections.
