USTA Southern California today announced that Carlos Alcaraz Academy Camps are now an official camp partner of the organization, in conjunction with a newly-launched junior scholarship program.
“We are thrilled to welcome the Carlos Alcaraz Academy Camps to Southern California for their first-ever appearance in the United States,” said Trevor Kronemann, executive director of USTA SoCal. “This partnership reflects our ongoing commitment to providing world-class training opportunities for our players.”
As part of the partnership agreement, USTA SoCal members will receive 15 percent off registration fees for adult and junior camps (with the code “USTASoCal”). The Section will also give away four junior camp scholarships, two to the San Diego camp and two to the Los Angeles camp. Both camps will be held in July, each for one week only. The San Diego camp at Clairemont High School July 7-11 and the LA County camp at California State University, Long Beach July 14-18.
“By offering four full junior scholarships, we’re ensuring that deserving athletes have access to an elite development experience that mirrors the passion, intensity, and excellence Carlos brings to the game,” Kronemann said.
Located in El Palmar, Murcia, the Carlos Alcaraz Academy was founded over 30 years ago by Carlos Alcaraz González, father of the world’s youngest No. 1 in ATP history, Carlos Alcaraz Garfia. The four-time Grand Slam champion and five-time Masters 1000 winner regularly visits the Academy, training on its courts and sharing his experience with the next generation of rising stars, guided by expert coaching staff.
“We are very excited that camps are being held in the United States for the first time, and both locations are here in our Section,” said Lexie Wanninger, integrated marketing manager for USTA SoCal. “Parents of juniors, NJTL families, and adult players can all benefit from these amazing camps that are now close to home.”
“Southern California offers an ideal mix of world-class tennis culture, state-of-the-art facilities, and a community that shares our commitment to excellence in both sport and personal development,” said camp developers. “With its rich tennis culture, ideal climate, and iconic cities like Los Angeles and San Diego, Southern California is the perfect fit for our program.
“Alcaraz camps focus on developing players of all levels in key areas, including technical skills, competitive performance, mental toughness, and physical conditioning,” representatives added. “Camps are adapted to individual needs and skill sets, ensuring that everyone can progress at their own pace.”
“I had an unforgettable experience and learned so much in just a few days,” said one academy camp attendee. “The training sessions were both challenging and exciting. The coaches were professional, friendly, fun, and always attentive.”
