TOURNAMENT SCHEDULE
This November, six boys and six girls from each section — SoCal, Texas, Eastern, and Southern — will compete at the Biszantz Family Tennis Center, home to Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges, in the Boys & Girls 18s Level 4 Intersectional Showdown. Players will be waterfall into two evenly matched teams per section using the most recent ITF World Tennis Number, creating balanced competition across the board.
Each participant is guaranteed four team matches, featuring singles and gender or mixed doubles. To further support their experience, every section will also have a designated coach on site. This is a rare opportunity for SoCal juniors to measure themselves against top talent from three other powerhouse sections. Don’t miss your chance, the entry deadline is October 7! (Any vacancies not filled by other sections will be awarded via NSL.)
The 123rd Annual Jim Hillman Southern California Junior Sectional Doubles Championships, one of SoCal’s oldest and most celebrated events, returns October 25-26 and November 1-2 in Lakewood and surrounding areas.
Don’t miss your chance to be part of this historic tournament. Grab a partner and enter by October 15!
(The gender doubles will be counted towards the Bryan Bros Doubles Race.)

This month’s topic will cover “Off-Court Strength and Conditioning for Different Ages.”
We’ll dive into age-appropriate strength and conditioning for junior players and learn how off-court training can support player development, performance, and injury prevention.
In an effort to provide play and tournament opportunities focusing on the underserved or underrepresented areas, the USTA SoCal staff has added a number of discounted Level 7 tournaments. These tournaments are nearly free – once players play the tournament to completion, they will receive a refund minus fees (approximately $4.25).
Below is the schedule for 2025 and links to register (if available):
> October 25: Fountain Valley High School
> November 15-16: Calexico
> November 15-16: Long Beach City College
> December 20-21: Cal State Los Angeles
USTA SoCal Early Development Camps are the first step in the USTA Player Development Pathway. Our goal is to bring together SoCal 10 & Under players, who currently compete in Junior Circuit tournaments in order to practice and play together. Early Development Camps are developed and designed by the USTA High Performance Player Development and utilize local USTA trained coaches.
This two-day camp emphasizes fundamentals and overall athletic development in a fun, educational environment while giving players an opportunity to earn playtracker points through match play. Players with excellent work ethic, commitment, talent, and attitude are encouraged to participate.
Register for upcoming Early Development Camps with the links below. It’s the perfect chance to level up your game!
Congratulations to our recent top performers at the September USTA National Level 3 Tournament.
Stay connected to the world of junior tennis. Whether you’re a player, parent, or coach, we’ve got insights and inspiration for everyone
> Let the Players Play: Spectators should avoid making calls or giving input during matches. Line calls and scoring should be handled by the players and officials only.
> Keep It Positive Court-side: Tournaments are high-pressure environments, but respect and calm communication go a long way. Avoid confrontations with officials, staff, or other families during matches.
> Zero Tolerance for Threatening Behavior: There is no place for intimidation or aggressive language at junior tournaments. Let’s work together to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for everyone.
> Entourage Conduct Matters: A player’s support team is expected to model good sportsmanship. Remember, actions off the court can impact the player’s tournament experience and suspension points can be applied.
> Respect Tournament Staff: Whether it’s scheduling, court assignments, or wildcard entries, tournament directors are working hard to run smooth events. Please treat them with the same respect you’d expect.
> No Coaching During Play: Cheer, clap, watch, but please hold off on giving instructions during matches. If you have something to say, wait until after the match.
