The NTRP National Championships for 2024 features singles and doubles events for three age divisions: 18+, 40+ and 55+ and a mixed doubles event for the 18+ division. The USTA Nationals are Level 1 adult tournaments that host competition across multiple NTRP levels and age divisions. To qualify for the NTRP National Championships, a player must first be “endorsed” by the Section and meet the NTRP eligibility requirements set by the USTA.
Those interested in advancing to next year’s Nationals should take a moment to review the latest NTRP Nationals qualification guidelines and Southern California’s selection process.

Last weekend marked the thrilling conclusion of the singles competition across all three divisions, showcasing the talents of 66 competitors from Southern California. The battlegrounds spanned iconic venues, with the Men’s and Women’s 18+ (2.5, 3.0, 3.5, 4.0, 4.5, 5.0) division held at the Barnes Tennis Center in San Diego, the 40+ (3.0, 3.5, 4.0, 4.5) division at the Surprise Tennis & Racquet Complex in Surprise, Arizona, and the 55+ division (3.0, 3.5, 4.0, 4.5) at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Florida. Each division had its own distinct flavor, with hard courts for the 18+ and 40+ categories and the 55+ division gracing the clay.
In a spirited display of sportsmanship and skill, every player advanced into a Playoff after intense pool play, engaging in a series of three to seven Fast-4 matches over three action-packed days. The opportunity to face opponents from diverse sections in rapid succession was a rare and exhilarating experience for many, adding an extra layer of excitement to the competition. Beyond the courts, players relished in the ambiance, amenities, and camaraderie, with highlights including a player social at the Barnes Tennis Center for the 18+ competitors, featuring complimentary food and beverages against the backdrop of evening matches.
The proud achievements of our athletes shone brightly, with 22 competitors securing top 8 finishes in their respective divisions. Among them, standout performances included two 4th place finishes, three 3rd place finishes, 8 Runner-Ups, and the crowning of one Grand Champion: Lindsey Barron in the Women’s 18+ 4.0 Division. Barron’s remarkable journey to victory included a gripping showdown where she saved three match points in the second set tiebreaker, ultimately prevailing over Florida’s Luisa Subia.
Looking ahead, anticipation mounts for the upcoming 2024 Doubles Championships scheduled for April 19-21, just a week away. For those who missed out on this year’s electrifying championships, fear not! There’s ample time to secure your spot and join the excitement at the 2025 Nationals!
