The highest level of USTA Adult League competition has officially begun with the start of the 2026 Adult League National Championships. Over five consecutive weekends, top recreational players from all 17 USTA sections will converge to compete for national titles and section pride. Reaching this stage is a massive accomplishment, as every qualifying team had to first win their local league title and then fight through a tough Sectional Championship tournament just to secure a spot.

This year’s events feature NTRP divisions from 2.5 to 5.0 across 18 & Over, 40 & Over, 55 & Over, and Mixed play. Championship matches are set across three host venues spanning the country in Surprise, Orlando, and a brand new addition for 2026, Mobile, Alabama.

USTA Southern California is sending 36 teams to compete on the national stage this season. Leading the charge across SoCal’s 13 areas, Orange County and San Diego tied for the top spot with 9 qualifying teams each. Los Angeles and San Gabriel Valley both had teams punch 6 tickets to Nationals, while Beach Cities sent 4 teams and San Diego North County rounded out the group with 2 qualifying teams.

Results & Top SoCal Teams

WEEKEND #1: OCTOBER 9-11, 2026

Opening weekend action got underway across two host sites in Surprise, Arizona, and Orlando, Florida. Four SoCal squads took to the courts, splitting duties with two teams battling in Florida and two in Arizona.

While additional teams were originally scheduled to play during Weekend 1, severe weather forced a sudden change of plans. The Adult 18 & Over 2.5, 4.5, and 5.0 National Championships in Mobile, Alabama were officially postponed to November 13-15 due to tropical storm and hurricane threats along the Gulf Coast.

On the court in Florida and Arizona, SoCal teams made strong initial runs. The 18 & Over 3.0 Women and Men battled in Orlando, while the 3.5 Women and Men competed in Surprise. All four teams put up a tough fight, finishing just outside the top four with overall placements of 5th, 6th, 6th, and 8th.

India Hoffman, USTA Southern California’s Director of Adult Leagues, traveled to Surprise to assist with tournament operations and cheer on our local players.

“Nationals in Surprise presented some real weather challenges,” Hoffman noted. “Over three days, we dealt with triple-digit heat, rain, lightning, a dust storm, and extreme winds. I am so grateful to our players for remaining flexible and even helping dry the courts!”
