TOURNAMENT SCHEDULE
Starting June 7, USTA Southern California will implement a Zero Tolerance Policy at all USTA SoCal Junior Sanctioned events, focused on spectator behavior.
Parents, coaches, and other attendees are expected to maintain respectful conduct at all times. Any unsportsmanlike behavior may result in immediate removal for the remainder of the event without appeal. Let’s work together to foster a positive and supportive atmosphere for our junior players.
Think you’ve got what it takes to compete with the best from across the country? Step up and join the action in the Team Intersectional Showdown, a high-intensity, Level 4 team event where top juniors from USTA Eastern, Southern, Southern California, and Texas go head-to-head in an epic clash of sections. This is your chance to show off your skills, team spirit, and SoCal pride in a format that’s as competitive as it is fun.
Six boys and six girls from each section will be selected according to the National Standings list for a total of 24 boys and 24 girls. The players will then be waterfalled onto two teams of equal strength per section using the most recent ITF World Tennis Number. Expect energy, strategy, and camaraderie like no other tournament.
The tournament will be held June 27-29 (12s), July 25-27 (14s and 16s), and November 7-9 (18s). Register today for your division!
> 12s Tournament Registration – Deadline is June 9 (Hosted by USTA Eastern)
> 14s Tournament Registration – Deadline is June 25 (Hosted by USTA Texas)
> 16s Tournament Registration – Deadline is June 25 (Hosted by USTA Southern)
> 18s Tournament Registration – Registration opens June 6 (Hosted by USTA SoCal)
Each year, four USTA Level 1 National Championships use Section Quotas (also known as “automatic bids”) as part of the player acceptance process. These quotas determine how many players from each USTA section are accepted into the national draws. Section Quota Lists are updated monthly and published on the USTA Ranking Page.
WILD CARD OPPORTUNITIES
As part of this process, the USTA Southern California section is allowed to award two of its quota spots as wild cards for the National Championships. These wild cards are given to players in the division where they earned them.
** Please Note: USTA SoCal Junior Competition Committee reserves the right to modify these procedures at any time for valid reasons.
The entry deadline for the Clay Court National Championships is June 12. The Section Quota List publish date will be June 11. The Southern California quota allotment is eight (8) players each for the Boys’ and Girls’ 18s, 16s, and 14s divisions, and five (5) players each for the Boys’ and Girls’ 12s.
The two wild cards will go to the winner and finalist of the Talbert Tournament in each age group. If either the winner or finalist qualifies for the Clays through the Direct Acceptance List or the regular section quota, the wild card will be passed down to the 3rd place finisher, and then the 4th if necessary. If no eligible players remain, the wild card will be awarded at the discretion of USTA SoCal staff or committee. Players who withdraw from the 3rd/4th place playoff match are INELIGIBLE to receive a quota wild card.
The same structure applies for the Hard Court Championships, with an entry deadline of July 10, and a Quota List publish date of July 9. The 2025 quota allotments for Southern California are identical to those for Clays.
For this event, wild cards will be awarded to the winner and finalist of the USTA SoCal Junior Sectionals in each division. As with the Clay Courts, if the winner or finalist already qualifies for Hard Courts through direct acceptance or section quota, the wild card will go to the 3rd place finisher, then 4th, and so on. If necessary, the staff or committee will select the wild card recipient. Again, any player who withdraws from the 3rd/4th place playoff match will not be eligible for a wild card.

Looking to keep playing JTT over the summer? We are excited to launch our inaugural Junior Team Tennis (JTT) Summer Flex League, offering a fun and flexible way for young players to compete this season. The league will feature five divisions—12U Novice, 12U Intermediate, 14U Novice, 14U Intermediate, and 18U Intermediate—, giving teams the chance to qualify for the Summer Sectional Championships on August 2.
Players will compete in two to five matches between June 1-July 27 to earn a spot at Sectionals. The $30 entry fee includes participation in the Summer Sectionals, as well as summer swag, exciting giveaways, and trophies for both winners and finalists.
Each team must include a minimum of four players and be led by a SafePlay-Approved coach or parent. Teams will compete in dual matches that include both singles and doubles play.
This new league is a great opportunity to stay active, improve skills, and enjoy the spirit of team competition over the summer. We look forward to seeing your team on court!
In an effort to provide play and tournament opportunities focusing on the underserved or underrepresented areas, the USTA SoCal staff has added a number of discounted Level 7 tournaments. These tournaments are nearly free – once players play the tournament to completion, they will receive a refund minus fees (approximately $4.25).

USTA Southern California Early Development Camps are the first step in the USTA Player Development Pathway. Our goal is to bring together SoCal 10 & Under players, who currently compete in Junior Circuit tournaments in order to practice and play together. Early Development Camps are developed and designed by the USTA High Performance Player Development and utilize local USTA trained coaches.
This two-day camp emphasizes fundamentals and overall athletic development in a fun, educational environment while giving players an opportunity to earn playtracker points through match play. Players with excellent work ethic, commitment, talent, and attitude are encouraged to participate.
Mark your calendars for the June 21-22 EDC at Cal State Los Angeles (CSULA) and the June 30-July 1 EDC at Burbank Tennis Center. It’s the perfect chance to level up your game!
Shoutout to all the SoCal players who brought their best to the May Level 2 and Level 3 national tournaments, we’re proud of your hard work and results!
The Ultimate Sportsmanship Challenge began on March 1, 2025, and will culminate on December 31, 2025, with the chance to win a trip for two to the 2026 BNP Paribas Open. Any SoCal player competing in USTA L3-L7 or Junior Circuit tournaments within the USTA SoCal section during the contest period is eligible to participate, and everyone is encouraged to vote!
To vote, download the Match Tennis App, where you can nominate a junior player who exemplifies sportsmanship. More details, including how to vote, can be found here!

Our tennis community has been deeply impacted by the recent Los Angeles-area wildfires, with beloved facilities like the Palisades Tennis Center and Altadena Town & Country Club now in need of repair. To support those affected, USTA Southern California has launched the Natural Disaster Relief Fund with a $500,000 goal to rebuild courts, replace equipment and clothing, cover entry fees, and help restore the joy of tennis in hard-hit areas like Pacific Palisades, Malibu, and Altadena.
You can make a difference by donating or bidding on exclusive auction items, which closes this month on May 31! Items include signed rackets and tennis balls from Serena Williams, Gael Monfils, Mirra Andreeva, Simona Halep, and other pro stars, 2025 Laver Cup tickets, a private clinic with Paul Annacone, a ½ hit with Marcos Giron, 1 Hour Hit/Lesson and Lunch with Brad Gilbert, and more.
Together, we can restore these courts, rebuild our community, and bring tennis back stronger than ever.
